Our Maverick Adidas Terrex Original West Sussex event remains one of our most popular events amongst our Maverick Runners so, for 2023, we bring it back to you all for yet another year. With the event village set in the Amberley Museum next door to Amberley Railway station, runners can be collecting their race numbers in less than 120 minutes after departing from London. With its easy accessibility, it is little wonder that our West Sussex event is so popular amongst our Mavericks.
However, links to London certainly aren’t West Sussex’s only draw. All three routes weave through the rolling hills, tranquil valleys and bustling hamlets of the quintessentially English South Downs. With all three routes spending time on the iconic South Downs Way. Please note, there is no outpost on the Short route.
Whether you are a seasoned Trail Runner or a complete novice, the West Sussex event is suitable yet challenging for all levels of experience. The trails vary from fire trails, forest paths and farm tracks with hills and technical sections thrown in for good measure.
With the West Sussex short route being our hilliest short-distance original event, sitting at over 300m of ascent in just over 8km and the middle and long routes being some of our toughest original routes, you can guarantee that signing up to run with us in West Sussex is sure to earn you some serious Kudos.

The Route
What you get
HOW IT WORKS
As with all Maverick events you can expect up to 3 on-course hydration and nutrition outposts provided by Precision Fuel & Hydration. There will also be prizes for the winners of each distance, male and female.
As a guide you should always:
• Follow the on course signage
• Listen to on course marshals
• Take care when crossing roads
• Be considerate to others
• Please close all gates, DO NOT litter!
PLASTIC FREE
In our quest to make this season plastic-free, we ask that you run with a reusable cup or bottle. Hydrapak Speed Cups are available to purchase at each event and online.
TRANSFERS
If for any reason you wish to transfer out from an event we are happy to do this, but once only. You may transfer to any event listed on our website or even change to a higher value event and pay the difference. We cannot action any transfers or refunds for an event that has sold out.
The last day to transfer out of an event is the Monday before event day (5 days before the event), please email us on info@maverick-race.com with the name of the event you would like to move to. We are not able to move you out of an event if you contact us after this day
PLASTIC FREE
In an effort to keep our trails clean and preserve the nature around us, we’re aiming to keep our outposts cup-free. Please bring a cup or bottle to refill. Speed Cups are available to purchase at each event and online.
HEADPHONES
We strongly recommend not wearing headphones at this event, but if you do want to listen to your tunes whilst on the trials, we recommend bone conduction headphones.
TRANSFERS
If you need to transfer out from this event, you can do this via your Let's Do This account. You can't transfer if the event has sold out.
