Meet the Team

ABOUT ME

My running journey began at the Junior Great South run when I was 9. Thereafter, running has been a staple in my life, even if record-breaking speeds have not! I was the ‘weird’ kid who lived for cross country and would go out of my way to return as muddy as possible and to be honest, not a lot’s changed since! I don’t know a better way than hitting the trails to explore a country (or getting lost in it!) and meeting people with the same appetite for adventure. Forget trying to chat while cycling - running is where the real connections happen!

From county-level athletics (and a very brief foray into nationals) at school to rowing at Bristol University, and even a self-documented attempt at The Goggins Challenge, I’ve always loved testing my limits. Discovering Maverick was no different…

I’d recently moved to Dorset and decided joining a bunch of strangers in the middle of nowhere seemed a great way to meet people and escape my running rut. One run and MRP had me hooked. I quickly signed up for races, knowing I’d be seeing friendly faces at the start line and when injury sidelined me, I volunteered so that I could lessen the feeling of missing out. It was then that I realised I felt more ‘myself’ at a 6 a.m. Saturday volunteer shift than I did during my workweek at that time and decided to keep an eye out for opportunities to join the team.

As your Volunteer and Community Manager, I'm committed to ensuring you have as fantastic an experience as I did as both a runner and as a volunteer. If I haven’t found you first on event days, please come and say hi - I’ll likely be holding a map or patting as many dogs as possible! I'm also thrilled to be rejoining the start line at East Sussex for my first 50km ultra.

Joining the Maverick team and working in events is incredibly exciting and something my childhood-self would be so proud of; finally getting to cheer on fellow ‘weirdos’ who also revel in coming home muddy! (Going around the puddle is also acceptable, I hasten to add…)
