Our resident coach and mountain leader Sam Hill has put together a selection of skills weekends to help people get out into the mountains this summer.
As always, our priority here at Maverick Race is to get people outside and into awesome environments. Having worked with Sam over the past few years we know that he has the skills, knowledge and approach to make these training weekends a really valuable experience for any ability of runner.
Sam wants to introduce you to the mountains that he spends his life running in and help give you the confidence to go out and explore these environments for yourself. Thus, there will be a strong coaching element to these weekends and they will focus on teaching the specific skills runners need to develop to be able to move happily in these hills.
He has put together two types of events held in either the Lake District or Snowdonia.
Mountain Skills & Navigation for Runners (5 - 6 June and 19 - 20 June)
During these weekends we will focus on everything you need to get started when running in the mountains. What to carry, how to pace yourself, route planning, using poles, moving efficiently and safely on the trails as well as the fundamentals of basic navigation techniques.
These weekend are for anyone that wants to spend a weekend in the mountains and develop their skills. We only ask that you have done a bit of trail running and that you have all the equipment necessary to keep you safe and comfortable for the day. Also, this is a great opportunity to be guided around some amazing trails and if you have a hill race coming up this could be a great training camp.
Introduction to Skyrunning (3 - 4 July & 10 - 11 July)
These events are designed for people that have done a few races in the hills and want to experience what it is like to get off the beaten track and into some more technical terrain.
We will scramble up and along rocky ridgelines and descend steep scree slopes and get into the kind of terrain that sky races typically take you.
These are really adventurous and unique weekends and designed for runners looking to explore beyond their comfort zones and try something different.
If you have any questions about the weekends and if they would be right for you then feel free to reach out to Sam: email@example.com
If any of the weekends above don't work for you or you would like a more bespoke or privately guided experience then do get in touch and we can work something out.
