Kit Review: Kitbrix Bag

As a Maverick Ambassador one of the perks is that we get to try out some new kit from their sponsors, including a Kitbrix bag. I have to say that having used this bag for a number of months now it works on all fronts, it is a simple functional bag that has been cleverly designed. It does what it says extremely well “no fuss just organised kit”.

Normally most of my trail running kit has been kept in the back of the car, with several pairs of inov-8 shoes, jackets, caps and more all loose together. Not great in the winter when wet muddy shoes are being thrown in with caps and jackets. Also when going to trail events I typically have been using plastic bags to put everything in, and then end up hunting around for everything on the day. The Kitbrix bags have changed all of this.

So what’s good about the Kitbrix bag? The first thing that I really like is the size, it is spot on. It holds everything that I need when going to a trail run event, shoes, jacket, caps, drink bottle. Then there are the additional mesh pockets on the outside for bars, gloves, a buff etc. plus the zipped pockets on the inside.

The design of the bag has been well thought through. The hard base and wipe clean tarpaulin construction gives it a rigid feel and the benefit of this is that when you open the lid everything is easily visible and accessible the large main compartment. Because it keeps its shape it means that it is much easier to find what you are looking for straight away - better that a typical rucksack, or plastic bag.… There are a number of other neat touches, such as the clear pocket in the inside of the lid of the bag which I normally use for my Garmin watch, money etc. Stuff that you want to be more secure. It is supplied with a long, adjustable, padded shoulder strap and a rubberised carry handle at the top.

I haven't tried it yet but the bags are modular and have been designed to be zipped together so that you can carry two at a time. This is done via adjoining zippers around the outside of the bags.

When I was testing these bags out, I simply couldn’t find fault with it. It’s not just the fact that they’re entirely functional and work brilliantly for their purpose, but also they look good and are made to an exceptionally high standard. The strong rugged construction of the bag means that it should last for many years.

Basically, this is a great bag. It is so simple yet so very effective, I am a convert… and I cannot recommend them enough.
