We head to the South Downs for another fun-packed Ultra event in our X Series.
Whilst the routes are aimed at all levels of runners the emphasis is on taking you Mavericks to your first / fastest / funnest Ultra.
With all four routes starting at Goodwood Racecourse, you’ll be running straight out of the Racecourse onto trails that weave through East Dean and Chiseldown. All four routes pack a punch with some short sharp climbs that get the legs and lungs burning. The Ultra route will take you thruogh Houghton Forest and up and over Glatting Beacon, as well as Upwaltham and Bignor Hill, meaning you’ll clock up over 1000m of vertical ascent. Please note, there is no outpost on the Short route.
This is a beautiful route that crisscrosses the East and West Sussex border with woodlands, farm trails and ridgeways to run along. If you haven’t run your first ultra yet... then join us for this one. You won’t regret it.

We have 4 routes for you to choose from. Please select carefully - the X-Series is not for the faint-hearted.
CUT OFF POINTS & TIMES
The South Downs cut off times are as follows. These are in place for your safety and apply to the Ultra & Long route. If you do not get to these points in time you will have to be collected as we don’t believe you will finish the route in time. The below times allow you to complete the ultra in 8hrs 30. Your safety is our priority.
Start: Goodwood Racecourse (0km), 09:00
OP1: Droke Forest (8km), 10:20
OP2: Slindon (21km), 12:30
OP3: Cadence Cycle Club (36km), 15:00
OP4: Singleton (46km), 16:40
Finish: Goodwood Racecourse (51km), 17:30
PLASTIC FREE
In our quest to make this season plastic-free, we ask that you run with a reusable cup or bottle. Hydrapak Speed Cups are available to purchase at each event and online.
OUTPOSTS
There will be 1 outpost on the short route, at approximately 10km. There will be 2 outposts on the Middle route (approx 8km & 21km), 3 outposts on the Long route (approx 8km, 27km & 38km). There will be 4 outposts on the Ultra route (please see Cut Off times above for distances). The outposts are designed to act as a top up for what you are already carrying. There will be a range of sweet & savoury snacks (fruit, cake, crisps) as well as Precision Hydration fuel & electrolyte.
TRANSFERS
If for any reason you wish to transfer out from an event we are happy to do this, but once only. You may transfer to any event listed on our website or even change to a higher value event and pay the difference. We cannot action any transfers or refunds for an event that has sold out.
The last day to transfer out of an event is the Monday before event day (5 days before the event), please email us on info@maverick-race.com with the name of the event you would like to move to. We are not able to move you out of an event if you contact us after this day

Choose your route carefully. The distance and elevation gain should give you some indication as to how easy/hard each route is, as well as showing you where the tougher climbs are.

• Trail shoes
• Waterproof jacket
• Mobile phone (in case of emergency)
• Enough food and drink (at least 1 litre) to last you the race - there will be outpost on course to top up
• Foil blanket
• Head torch and spare batteries
• A re-usable cup (we’d like to ensure our are races plastic free!)
