The Maverick Original West Sussex 2025
The Maverick Original West Sussex 2025
Saturday 8 February 2025 | Amberley Museum
DOG ENTRIES HAVE NOW SOLD OUT
Our Maverick Original West Sussex event remains one of our most popular events amongst our Maverick Runners so, for 2025, we bring it back to you all for another year. With the event village set in the Amberley Museum next door to Amberley Railway station, runners can be collecting their race numbers in less than 120 minutes after departing from London. With its easy accessibility, it is little wonder that our West Sussex event is so popular amongst our Mavericks.
However, links to London certainly aren’t West Sussex’s only draw. All three routes weave through the rolling hills, tranquil valleys and bustling hamlets of the quintessentially English South Downs. With all three routes spending time on the iconic South Downs Way. Please note, there is no outpost on the Short route.
Whether you are a seasoned Trail Runner or a complete novice, the West Sussex event is suitable yet challenging for all levels of experience. The trails vary from fire trails, forest paths and farm tracks with hills and technical sections thrown in for good measure. You can guarantee that signing up to run with us in West Sussex is sure to earn you some serious Kudos.

How it Works
As a guide you should always:
• Follow the on course signage
• Listen to on course marshals
• Take care when crossing roads
• Be considerate to others
• Please close all gates, DO NOT litter!
REGISTRATION
The registration process for each distance is organised with specific time windows to minimise congestion and ensure a smooth experience. During registration, you’ll collect your race number (nothing is sent in advance). It’s recommended to arrive at the beginning of your registration window to avoid queues:
LONG ROUTE - 08:00 - 09:15am
MIDDLE ROUTE & SHORT ROUTE - 09:15 - 10:10am
PLASTIC FREE
In our quest to make this season plastic-free, we ask that you run with a reusable cup or bottle. Speed Cups are available to purchase at each event and online.
OUTPOST
There will be no outpost on the Short route. There will be 1 outpost on the Middle route, at approximately 6km. There will be 2 outposts on the Long route (approx 6km & 16km). The outposts are designed to act as a top up for what you are already carrying. There will be a range of sweet & savoury snacks (fruit, cake, crisps) as well as Precision Hydration fuel & electrolyte.
There will not be pre-filled water cups available at the outpost. Please have your re-useable cup or bottle ready when you arrive and make use of our self serve water barrels.
HEADPHONES
We strongly recommend not wearing headphones at this event.
CUT OFFS
Although we do not have strict cut offs as such, we do appreciate if all runners (regardless of distance) are finished by 2pm. This equates to a finish time of 4hrs.
This helps to ease the pressure on our marshals, so that they are not stood outside for long periods of time.
TRANSFERS
If for any reason you wish to transfer out from an event we are happy to do this, but once only. You may transfer to any event listed on our website or even change to a higher value event and pay the difference. We cannot action any transfers or refunds for an event that has sold out.
The last day to transfer out of an event is the Monday before event day (5 days before the event), please email us on info@maverick-race.com with the name of the event you would like to move to. We are not able to move you out of an event if you contact us after this day
The Routes
Choose your route carefully. The distance and elevation gain should give you some indication as to how easy/hard each route is, as well as showing you where the tougher climbs are.
