ABOUT YOUR RUN LEADER

Run Leaders for the Maverick Run Project are the people who make our social runs possible. They know their local area better than we do so they go out and find routes that they think you'll enjoy. Below is the information about the Run Leader for this particular social run.

Vicki Balfour

Hello, I'm Vicki and am based in Hove, East Sussex.

Running is my passion and what I do in any spare time that I have! I started trail running back in 2017 as was training for Brighton Marathon and particularly last year I found I spent more and more time on the trails.

Having run the SDW50 in April, it's given me the impetus to attempt a trail 100 miler in 2022 and then in 2023 will be setting my own personal challenge of running Lands End to John o'Groats via a trail route with the plan of 40 miles a day for 4 weeks - anyone would be welcome to join and keep me company!

When I'm not doing long training runs on the Downs, you'll still find me out on the downs running/walking with my dog. On the rare occasion, I'm not running, you'll find me at a trade show in London as I work for an events company in Brighton. Whilst doing all of this, I also am a run coach for my local gym and run an intervals session along the seafront once a week.

Running is absolutely what I love (I can quite happily talk about running all day). To me it's all about community, should always be social and is inclusive to absolutely everyone. I can't wait to meet you all and share these amazing trails on our doorstep.

RUN INFORMATION

A lot of the East Sussex runs have various different route options from each of the start points with all of them headed towards the South Downs.

The runs are all around 8-10km and we run at the pace of the group as a whole so no one is ever left behind. All the runs are super social, very chatty and as soon as the evenings get lighter will be including a pub trip occasionally.

The terrain is a mixture of chalky paths, grass and some slight road bits for one of the routes so trail shoes for the wet/winter runs is a must.

All times and dates for Vicki's runs are available within the My Running Club app.
