ABOUT YOUR RUN LEADER

Run Leaders for the Maverick Run Project are the people who make our social runs possible. They know their local area better than we do so they go out and find routes that they think you'll enjoy. Below is the information about the Run Leader for this particular social run.

It's safe to say trail running came to me pretty much by accident. After years of playing the usual team sports and plenty of gym, I eventually got well and truly hooked onto anything mountains. While living 'up North' I spent most weekends in North Wales, The Peaks or The Lakes and in 2008 my new passion took me to the French Alps and some of the best trails on the planet.  It also landed me in the centre of Chamonix during the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) watching a young newcomer called Kilian Jornet winning aged 20.  My mind was blown, not only because I saw incredible athletes in the flesh but also because this was running, but it was actually cool!

The atmosphere and whole event were electric and now years later I'm finding, through Maverick Race, that here in the UK we have our own growing trail community full of wonderful people and a sport that has been amazing for me and it will be for you.

My working life has been quite varied with a big chunk belonging to the fire service linking into health projects, community, charity, partnerships and more. I now currently work for an ethical cosmetics company in Dorset which is handy as it means I live near the seaside.

Going back almost a decade now I decided to qualify as a personal trainer as I really enjoy supporting people to find their own healthy lifestyle and what's better than seeing others happier and fulfilled? It's always felt like making friends rather than another career.

If you're like me then you're ready for an adventure, so let's go exploring with the MRP and see what awaits us.

RUN INFORMATION

Adam organises several trail runs in the Swanage, Wareham and Corfe Castle areas of Dorset. The routes range from around 8 to 11km in the week and up to 17km at the weekends.

Adams Houns Tout to Worth Matravers village 10k run is a great all-round route of easy miles on the flat, some ups and downs and varied terrain of coastal path, road, trail and field.

The Houns Tout to Swyre Head route is a shorter route at 8k. The route consists of country roads, farm tracks, gradual and steep ascent and descent, coastal paths and flat easy trails and woods.

At nearly 11k, the Worth Matravers to Winspit Caves run is a circular route past caves, long stretches of coastal paths and a roller coaster set of steps with a run down to Chapman's Pool and back up for a picture-perfect village finish.

The longer 18k run is a blast and one that's a great progression from the weeknight routes. You will build a decent aerobic base, get used to more time on your feet and have an opportunity to try out lots of different terrain. This circular route takes runners from Corfe to Cocknowle then onto Steeple, Kingston, Corfe Common and finishes at the castle gates.

See the My Running Club app for more information on routes/times.
