Caffyns Farm (Start) - Kilve Court (Finish) Point to Point Ultra

The all new Maverick Inov-8 Ultra Trail Series Exmoor (UTSE) point to point is the ultimate in endurance events. It’s the product of our favourite X Series event and our hardest Original Series event.

On paper you may not see the largest amount of elevation over the 55mile route, but the combination of extremely hard terrain and it being like a roller coaster with minimal flat sections, make this route incredibly demanding, physically and mentally. Once you leave the venue at Caffyns Farm in Exmoor the route sets the tone instantly. There’s a tough climb within the first 2km so go out steady as you will be climbing for quite some time during the first stage of the race. Your eyes will be drawn to the epic scenery. First the Valley of the Rocks, then the climb to Foreland Point. From there will be your first technical descent, with loose scree on sheer cliff face, this is not for the faint-hearted.

The route continues following the south west coast path within the National Park almost to Minehead.

When you see Minehead you’ll be getting close to the halfway point and there’s a chance to get some hot food, drinks and a massage. But don’t rest for too long as the second half awaits and it’s just as tough!

The terrain changes in the second half of the route as you start to head inland towards the Quantock Hills in the distance. It becomes more forest and farmland but still equally as picturesque as the hills become longer with similar elevation.

As you press on and wind your way through quaint Somerset villages, seeing very few people, you come to terms with just how long and tough this route is.

Once you hit the small village of Bicknoller in Somerset you know you’re getting close. With a long climb to Bicknoller Post you will once again be met with stunning views over the Quantock Hills - that’s if you are not in the dark by now! This section of the route, once again, becomes pretty technical so take care - you will be on some tired legs by now.

The finish line is within your grasp but not before the dreaded long, steep descent in to the venue. If your legs were not finished before then, they will be now, but at least it’s just a stone’s throw away to beer, hot food, medal, massage and a place to put your tired head.

Camping is available for 2 nights (Pre race night and race night) along with transfers to the start from the finish.
