ABOUT YOUR RUN LEADER

Run Leaders for the Maverick Run Project are the people who make our social runs possible. They know their local area better than we do so they go out and find routes that they think you'll enjoy. Below is the information about the Run Leader for this particular social run.

Chris White

Hi, my names Chris (aka Redtop). I'm 40 years old and love trail running! I've been a part of the Maverick family since day one and so far to date I've clocked up 65 events with them! I live in a little village in the South Wales valleys so I have the mountains on my doorstep! Looking forward to getting out with MRP and showing you some of my favourite trails and views

I would like to head out on a Monday evening with a 6:30pm start time. On the days I'm on call, Simon or Jay will cover me as unfortunately, I have to work - ha ha!

RUN INFORMATION

Below you'll find some information about some of the runs Chris organises. To get the most up to date information, locations and dates, please sign in to the My Running Club app.

Long hill loop - Ffordd Y Bedol

Distance: 11.3km

As we set off we will travel along a short pathed section before joining the trails! The first part of the trail is muddy but flat! It then opens up onto a forest path that we then start to climb! The climb zig-zags its way up the stoney rocky mountain path with approximately 800ft of climb taking in the stunning scenery of the Rhondda valleys up to the trig point! Then we travel back down the rocky roman road back to the start!

Sheep house loop - Pontypridd High School

Distance: 9.2km

We start with a steep climb on a single track road up on to Eglwyslyn Mountain where we join some muddy fun trails! We then travel along some mixed terrain and then up again to the trig point! From the Trigg point we can see as far as Cardiff Bay with some sensational scenery! We then bomb down the mountain across some more tricky terrain back to the start

Llunweno - Pleasant View

Distance: 10km

As we join the start of the trails we head up towards Llunweno forest through some sheep fields but don't worry they are friendly! We then run through the tall trees looking out for deer and other wildlife! as we head down we will come across a beautiful reservoir and waterfall, perfect photo opportunity! Then we head along a stunning stretch of river back to where we started

Llantrisant forest  - Smilog Woods

Distance: 9km

As we head off, we slowly wind up through the epic forest on forest paths mainly stoney and mud until we come out into a mass of views stretching as far as the eye can see towards Swansea! We then head down some rocky trails back into the forest winding and turning until we come back to the start

Cynon long loop

Distance: 21.5km

This route takes in some stunning trails through the Cynon valley! Mixed terrain and suitable for all! We will touch on a couple of the Monday night routes but combined makes one epic trail run with a couple of mountain summits to conquer.
