ABOUT YOUR RUN LEADER

Run Leaders for the Maverick Run Project are the people who make our social runs possible. They know their local area better than we do so they go out and find routes that they think you'll enjoy. Below is the information about the Run Leader for this particular social run

David Poole

Ginger Dave, or GD, is a UK Athletics Leader in Running Fitness, and an all-round top guy!

I am a chartered civil engineer working for a large UK infrastructure company. Married to Fran and dad to two amazing girls, and one border terrier

I love all things running, especially trail and ultra. I have been lucky enough to run in Canada, Hong Kong, France, Italy and Switzerland - as well as all around the UK

When not running (or working) I am usually doing something else active - typically long family dog walks, cycling and paddleboarding

I have a weakness for beer and pizza, and trail running has been an enabler to this.

Favourite trail snack... nut butter filled Clif bars... they are the nuts...also GU gel - Roctane Cold Brew Coffee (Zing!!!!!!)

In 2020 I ran my first 100 miler - self-supported as races were cancelled - 2021 let's see what happens but a few more 100s look to be on the cards

RUN INFORMATION

David's runs take place at various stunning locations in southern Hampshire. The group run in the beautiful South Downs National Park, as well as coastal routes around the natural trails of Chichester Harbour. For routes in the Downs, expect a few hills. They are undulating but stunning, with a medium to hard (2-3) difficulty level. The coastal runs are flat and a bit faster, with a difficulty level of 1 (easy).

Regardless of difficulty level, all locations are suitable for all and we adapt distances and routes to suit the group.

Midweek, expect to run for an hour (8-10km); weekend longer runs will be around 2 - 2.5 hours (16-25km). Start/end locations include Emsworth, Rowlands Castle, Forest of Bere, and Queen Elizabeth Country Park. All times and dates for these runs are available within the My Running Club app.
