ABOUT YOUR RUN LEADER

Run Leaders for the Maverick Run Project are the people who make our social runs possible. They know their local area better than we do so they go out and find routes that they think you'll enjoy. Below is the information about the Run Leader for this particular social run.

David Rogers

Born and raised in the South Wales Valleys and farmland, I headed to the South Coast for university and stayed. When my son was born, I realised that I needed to shed some serious weight so started running in 2012. I work as a senior leader and behaviour lead in education, so running has been a great outlet to let off steam. In addition, it’s a fantastic outlet for positive wellbeing and my mental health.

The trails and mountains always draw me in. Pounding the pavement at a constant pace makes way for variety, views and aid stations stocked with goodies. I still maintain that I run to eat cake and good ale. Also, trail running is, for me, about the communities. Slowing down to chat. Put the world to rights or just to stop and watch the sunset from the top of a South Downs ridge or the edge of a coastal cliff.

Over the years I’ve completed road and trail marathons, mountain marathons and quite a few ultras. However, I maintain that I’m an average bloke and fitting in trail runs around a busy professional and personal life and making it achievable is important to me. Being outside and chatting (and developing my knowledge of great cafes, food vans and close to quality trails) is all-important.

RUN INFORMATION

Below you'll find some information about some of the runs David organises. To get the most up to date information, locations and dates, please sign into the My Running Club app.

Distance: Varies between 12, 18 and 22 km

Meet in the car park at the Adur Recreation ground in Shoreham. From here there are a number of route variations that we can do, depending on the group and conditions. All start with a gentle, flat start along the Downs Link path before either crossing the River Adur and returning on the opposite bank. Variations include heading up  Mill Hill to Truleigh Hill or turning West toward the historic Chantonbury Hill. Lots of local coffee shops to grab a brew after the run and chat about the adventures.
