Run Leaders for the Maverick Run Project are the people who make our social runs possible. They know their local area better than we do so they go out and find routes that they think you'll enjoy. Below is the information about the Run Leader for this particular social run.
I’ve been running and working with Maverick Race for the past five and half years and in doing so have fallen completely in love with everything Trail Running. My favourite run of all time was a run with Jay, Ben and Jake (all part of the Maverick family ) up to Lac Blanc whilst in Chamonix (see my little bio picture, it was awesome - I'm the one on the right).
Living in the centre of a capital city sometimes you have to get creative and just enjoy the few trails that are around, and then look forward to an escape further afield at the weekend. I can’t wait to be part of the Maverick Run Project to introduce a few more Cardiffians firstly to running and then secondly to the joy of trail running.
These sessions take place during the week. Click on the "View & Enter Sessions" button to see times and dates.
Locations and Routes
If you're looking for a training session or simply a chance to get out and run, you won't go wrong signing up to our sessions in Cardiff. Our Run Leader Elyse has organised three routes in the area and hosts them every week. You can read more info about Elyse and the routes below.
A nice and flat 8.2km along the Taff Trail starting in the middle of Bute Park, Cardiff. Potentially some muddy sections along the way - especially if it's been raining. It’s a simple out and back along different sides of the Taff which means you can take it at your own pace as there's no way you can get lost on this one.
A flat and gentle 8km around Cardiff Bay going out across the Barrage and over the top of Grangemoor Park on the Ely Trail. Starting and finishing at Coffi Co. in the Bay. The majority of the route is on pavements or tarmac with the exception being when we go over the top of Grangemoor.
9.21km all within Bute Park, so if you ever feel like it's too much there's plenty of places to have a rest, take a short cut and join back in when you can. There's no way of getting lost in here, so take it at your own pace and do what you can. No road crossings as it's all within the park. A few bits of trail that can get a little muddy.
