We welcome you back to Snowdonia for the final instalment of The Maverick Inov-8 X Series. These are real challenges and are designed to test your resolve and take you to the upper limits of your abilities. The Snowdonia National Park is magical and an absolute must for any trail runner.
The park which covers 838 square miles is one of three national parks found in Wales, and the oldest - being designated in 1951. The area of the Snowdonia National Park has so much to offer the trail runner that if you are visiting for the first time you will wonder why it took you so long.
The 3 routes are all equally tough, and all offer some very special views. The shorter routes see you spending most of your time running on mountainous terrain, with technical twisting and turning rocky descents. But make sure you take some time to soak up the views and revel in what you have achieved, these routes are a real test of your mental and physical ability.
If you decide to tackle the marathon route, you will summit Mt Snowdon at 1085m in elevation - your legs will soon let you know that you have made a serious ascent!
Once at the summit you will drop off the side of Snowdonia and down the Bwlch Main trail. This has some cracking rocky sections so be prepared for some scrambling. This route will take you down through a valley and join up at the bottom of the Watkins path. From here the route takes you along the stunning Llyn Dinas Lake until you reach another tough climb at the old copper mine, before entering Beddgelert village. The route from here enters some superb alpine forest with sublime views of Snowdon.
Once you leave the forest you find yourself on a short road section before climbing the Snowdon ranger path. This is a steep switchback section that takes you to a cracking descent back to Llanberis, where you will be welcomed across the finish line with a fine Maverick Ale and some goodies from Jimmy's Iced Coffee, Muc-off, and of course your well deserved finishers medal.

There are 3 route options on the race. Please make sure you look out for the 'course split ahead' signs and follow the correct route at that point. If, during the race, you feel that you have chosen a route that is too much, you can choose a shorter route. If you do this, please let us know at the finish line and we will adjust your time accordingly.
ROUTE SAFEY DUE TO BAD WEATHER
As you are aware, spending time in the mountains is not to be take lightly. The difference in weather conditions at base level and 1000m up can be incredibly different. If on the day we feel that you are at any risk due to the conditions, we will have no choice but to cut the Marathon route down to the half. This decision will be made as close to race day as possible, or on race morning before you leave. Any decision will be solely with yours and our marshall’s safety in mind, so please keep your eyes peeled for information pre-event day.
CUT OFF TIMES & POINTS
If you're running the marathon route, we have calculated that your average pace should be around 4.20Km per hour. We have taken in to account elevation between sections, so we have been overly generous with the time between some checkpoints. This would give you 9 hours to complete the route in total.
There are 3 cut-off points on the long route to help ensure you get back to base in time. The first of which is at the 13K Hydration Outpost 1 the Cut Off time is 12:30 Pm
The Second Cut off is at Hydration Outpost 2 at 20km in. You'll need to be at this location by 14:00 to be allows to continue on the route.
The Third and final cut off and the most important one for the Marathon Route is at Hydration Outpost 3 ls At 32km the cutoff time is 16:30 this is the Point of no return. Please make sure you have enough provisions to complete the final section of the route.
This gives you 9 Hours to complete the Route.
Upon the successful completion of the Long route, you will now be awarded 3 ITRA and 3 UTMB. These can to go towards any races that require points.Register now
We have 3 routes for you to choose from, please select carefully the X-Series is not for the faint hearted. You can expect up to 4 on-course hydration and nutrition outposts provided by Precision Hydration. There will also be prizes for the winners of each distance, male and female.
Upon the Successful completion of the Long route, you will now be awarded 3 and 3 points to go towards any races that require points.
